Principal’s Welcome
On behalf of the Maiden Gully Primary School staff, it is my pleasure to welcome all parents and students to the new school year. I am excited about the school year before us as we welcome new and familiar faces to our school. Learning is an exciting, life-long endeavour, and my staff and I are proud to have both the opportunity and responsibility to ensure a solid foundation for your child as they begin or continue their educational journey. We will strive to provide a positive educational experience conducive to learning.
The School Values at Maiden Gully Primary school are: Learning and Respect; Learning and Responsibility; Learning and Teamwork and Learning and Community. Our entire community contributed to the development of our School Values and it will guide my work as Principal, every day.
It is the goal of the staff at Maiden Gully Primary School to work with you to create a rich learning environment for all students. Our children are natural users of technology, developing digital learning skills alongside deep thinking and self-management skills. Collaboration and competition nurtures every child’s ability to work with others and strive for excellence.
Student success is a shared responsibility between the school staff, students and parents. Education is a joint venture between school and home. As we work with our students to help them learn about the world around them through innovative curriculum, we welcome and appreciate the support that parents give their children at home as they strive to reach their learning goals. The foundation of a successful school is the cooperation between the students, staff, parents and community.
At Maiden Gully Primary we believe wellbeing and relationships underpin the success and achievements of our students. To promote student attendance and punctuality, we foster opportunities to inspire student engagement in learning and actively encourage students to look forward to tomorrow. Our philosophy towards student success and achievement is reinforced through our School Values. As a learning community we acknowledge the capacity of everyone as both a learner and a teacher. The expertise of individuals is celebrated and promoted through peer tutoring, peer coaching, collaboration and performance. The opportunity to teach others promotes leadership qualities and strengthens understandings.
Knowledge of each child is paramount in providing appropriate learning opportunities for individuals. Children are constantly assessed and monitored against developmental domains including social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. The timetabling of teaching enables individual and small group interactions, assessments and deep instructional teaching responding to our children’s needs.
While Maiden Gully Primary outcomes could be described as being above or even well above the State and the National results (see- www.myschool.edu.au/ ), we aim to improve every year by reflecting on teaching and learning practices and setting our goals high. The staff take collective ownership of the children and we regularly moderate with each other and use the learning data to drive teaching and cater for every individual.
This connection of learning in an environment of high expectations is evident across all facets of student life at Maiden Gully Primary School and enables students to attain excellent levels of achievement. These academic achievements cannot be attained without the complimentary experiences of Extra Curricula activities. The school is justly proud of the extensive array of these activities; School Choir, Guitar and Keyboarding classes, Chinese Language and Cultural Program, Camping programs for all year levels, Sporting opportunities (which lead to Zone State and National representation).
Maiden Gully Primary school aims to provide your child with a stimulating learning environment within a safe and supportive community. We feel this places our students in the best possible place to expand their learning which extends beyond the classroom in digital and actual contact.
Parents are a vital part of the Maiden Gully School Community. Your contributions are invaluable to the school through volunteer time and support of school activities.
I look forward to working with you and developing a relationship that will assist in the growth of your child/children.
